The Chinese car company Byton has demonstrated a battery-driven crossover prototype with the provisional name Byton Concept at the recently opened CES-2018 in Las-Vegas, U.S.A.
According to a company representative, the potent off-roader will see its market release late next year.
One has to admit that the new Byton Concept has a rather stylish appearance, even though car geeks routinely point out design solutions borrowed from such renowned industry leaders as Nissan and Land Rover. The interior, however, does have a unique and authentic feel about it. For instance, it dumps the traditional dashboard, which has become a de-facto industry standard a long time ago, for a huge touch-enabled screen spanning the entire length of the fascia panel. Add to that a steering wheel with an eight-inch display, and you’ve got to be intrigued.
From the technical point of view, the new Byton Concept has a single electric motor with 272 horsepower and a driving range slightly over 400 kilometers (250 miles). The company plans to build another version of the car using two electric motors with a 476 hp total output.
When it gets released, the new fully electric Byton crossover is going to be available for U.S. $45,000 and above.
