McLaren F1 creator unveils the Motiv, a self-driving quadricycle

Gordon Murray, the designer of the legendary McLaren F1, has teamed up with GMD, Delta Motorsport, and itMoves on a self-driving quadricycle one-seater project named Motiv.

The car comes based upon a sturdy extruded-aluminum profile and features outer bodywork made of composite materials. Its suspension also mostly relies on aluminum components.

The powertrain encompasses a single 27-hp (20-kW) electric engine and a traction battery with 17.3 kilowatt-hours of capacity. Getting from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour (0-62 mph) takes 7.5 seconds, and the top speed does not exceed 65 km/h (40 mph). The driving range is stated as 100 km (62 miles).

The feature list goes on to mention climate control, keyless entry (gull-wing doors swing up automatically), and an ergonomic interior layout that enables the car’s only passenger to make themselves comfortable with a laptop.
