Vietnamese coachbuilder VinFast has unveiled a new version of its Lux crossover/SUV based on the previous-gen BMW X5 and packing a 6.2 LS V8 engine of the modern Chevy Corvette.
The General Motors-sourced engine produces around 460 hp (343 kW) and 624 Nm (460 lbft) of torque and is widely used in car production and tuning.
The updated VinFast Lux sports a restyled front fascia with massive air intakes and a sporty-looking grille, and has twin exhaust tips in the back.
The interior of the Vietnamese off-roader houses a genuine leather trim with occasional carbon fiber inserts. Notable features include a multimedia system with a portrait-oriented 10.25” touchscreen display and a BMW-style gear selector.
VinFast plans to begin building its own model lineup by releasing custom sedans and utility vehicles based on previous-generation BMW X5 and 5-Series. The production should begin before the end of the year.
