Chinese car manufacturer Human Horizons has held a grand reveal event dedicated to its newest concept SUV called the HiPhi. The project was led by Mark Stanton, ex-Director of Special Vehicle Operations at Jaguar Land Rover.
The crossover vehicle is 5.2 meters (17 ft.) long and has a whopping nine doors, including two gull-wing doors. There is not a handle to be seen among the throng, though, since entrance into the car is granted by a face recognition system. Overall, the concept vehicle has over 500 sensors installed that give it SAE Level 3 self-driving capacity.
Two engines rated at 268 hp (200 kW) each propel the giant SUV forward, drawing their power from a 96 kWh battery. The performance total amounts to 536 hp (400 kW), acceleration from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes 3.6 seconds, and the driving range is quite impressive at 644 kilometers (400 miles).
The company says it will soon design a whole range of all-electric cars, the first of which will hit the market in about two years.
