Hispano Suiza teases Carmen Boulogne, an electric hypercar

After many years of inactivity, Hispano Suiza made a comeback last year, revealing a new all-electric supercar called Carmen at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The Carmen hasn’t begun shipping yet, but the company has its high-performance version called Boulogne at the ready.

Based on the only teaser pic available so far, the Carmen Boulogne sports carbon body kit parts and copper accents. It is also likely more powerful than the standard Carmen, but no numbers are being provided.

This is not to say that the standard Carmen, which is shown in the video here, is lacking in terms of raw power. Its dual electric motors produce 1,020 PS (750 kW) working together, accelerating the track projectile 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in under three seconds and taking it all the way up to 250 km/h (155 mph). The traction battery can save up to 80 kilowatt-hours of energy, which translates into 400 kilometers (250 miles) of range. Liberal use of carbon fiber drops the curb weight to just 1,690 kilograms (3,725 pounds), which is an impressive result for a hypercar as powerful as this, let alone electric. Then again, maybe the Boulogne is even lighter than that.

QEV Technologies founded Hispano Suiza Carmen in Barcelona, Spain. The company owes its name to the mother of Miguel Suqué Mateu, its current CEO and great-grandson of Damianu Mateu, the famous founder of the original Hispano Suiza.

A total of 19 Carmen vehicles will be produced priced around €1,500,000. In all likelihood, the Boulogne series will be even more expensive than that.
