Lynk & Co 03 Cyan sets two Nürburgring records at once

Chinese car manufacturer Lynk & Co and the Cyan Racing Team, previously known as the Polestar team, have come to the Nürburgring racetrack in Germany with a 03 Cyan Concept sedan/saloon, setting two new records.

The car arrived at the start line packing a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 535 hp (400 kW) and 504 Nm (372 lb-ft) of torque. Piloted by Swedish professional racecar driver and 2017 WTC champion Ted Björk, it finished the short version of the North Loop in 7 minutes 15.123 seconds and the long one in 7 m 20.143 s, dethroning the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 and the Megane RS Trophy-R, respectively. The average speed amounted to 170.4 km/h (105.9 mph).

According to Lynk & Co, the 03 Cyan might very well be the fastest mass-produced four-door, FWD vehicles on the market. That said, the ‘mass-produced’ bit would be an exaggeration here, since it is essentially just a concept version of the upcoming FIA WTCR Series racecar, which should emerge in a small series. If for some reason it does not, then the records will not be updated.

Based on the spec sheet, the sedan needs 4.4 seconds to get from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) and 10 seconds to hit 200 km/h (124 mph). It hits its limit at 310 km/h (193 mph). It will proceed to another racetrack in northern Sweden this winter.
