Lynk & Co, which is a part of the Geely Group, showcased its SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform this fall using the Zero Concept hatchback as the show car. We didn’t know back then whether it would evolve into a production vehicle, but these officially published photos provide a conclusive answer.
On the outside, the Lynk & Co Zero EV looks just like the initial design study with the exception of the wheels and the new reflectors on the rear bumpers. The original had 4,850 mm of body length and 2,999 mm of wheelbase.
The tests were held in Yancheng, Jiangsu, China. The crew was able to confirm that the car could go 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in four seconds flat and handle well in all situations, including the infamous moose test.
Once the Zero comes to the market, it will do so in multiple variants rated up to 646 PS (637 hp / 475 kW), 110 kWh, and 700 km (435 miles) of NEDC-rated driving range.
The new architecture is said to lend itself well to different car types and can incorporate anywhere between one and three electric engines along with a power generator. 800-volt batteries can provide up to 2,000,000 kilometers (1,242,742 miles) of total mileage before replacement, and battery capacity will not degrade at all through the first 200,000 km (124,274 miles) of use.
Production is slated to begin in mid-2021, and sales should follow later that year.
