Luxury car manufacturer Aurus has finished working on building its first-ever racecar, the Aurus 01. The vehicle will soon be handed over to the G-Drive Racing team, who will do its best to drive it to victory at the upcoming 4 Hours of Le Castellet 2019 race.
The No. 26 team will subsequently take the unique racecar to the Belgian Spa stage of the FIA World Endurance Championship, followed by the 24-hour long Le Mans race.
The Aurus 01 comes powered by a 4.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine rated at 600 hp (447 kW) and can accelerate up to 340 km/h (208 mph). It weighs in at only 900 kg (1,980 lbs).
At the recently concluded 2019 Geneva Motor Show, Aurus unveiled the L700 limousine and the Senat S600 sedan/saloon. Both come with the same hybrid powertrain based on a 4.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and an electric motor, rated at 600 hp (447 kW) and partnered with a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The company’s plans for the future include releasing a minivan, an SUV, a motorbike, and perhaps a convertible as well.
