This eyebrow-raising, road-legal stretch limo converted from a Learjet plane first saw the daylight two years ago and reportedly devoured around $1,000,000 in investment. It is now on sale for five times that amount.
Responsible for the project is Dan Harris, from Oregon. He has spent two years designing and producing a stainless-steel frame capable of accommodating the giant plane fuselage. He got rid of the wings and put audio speakers inside engine housings. The exterior received a Dark Candy Red paintjob, while the cabin received a fine black leather trim with red stitching.
Powering the Learmousine is an 8.1-liter Chevrolet Vortec V8 truck engine rated at 400 PS (394 hp / 294 kW). Despite a curb weight of around 5.5 metric tons (12,000 lbs), it can still make 100 miles per hour (160 km/h) in a straight line.
The truly unique ride made it to an auction block last June, but the top bid of $600,000 fell short of the seller’s expectations. Note that the lot additionally included a 45ft (14m) long trailer and a Chevrolet 2500 HD for hauling the monstrosity around. It is unclear whether these extras are still on offer.
The next round of haggling is coming up in May.
