Californian startup Mullen Technologies has posted images of its second car, the SUV named MX-05 that it hopes to start producing in two years’ time. The main selling point is the battery, which comes rated at 150 kilowatt-hours of capactiy.
The vehicle only exists on 3D renders right now, but the production plans look ambitious, indeed. Mullen intends to purchase an unnamed existing factory for U.S. $135 million to manufacture the SUV using a popular – but likewise undisclosed – EV platform.
China-based engineering firm Linghang BOAO will provide the batteries. A full charging cycle will only take 35 minutes at most as long as the charging station has enough power. The range will reportedly exceed 500 miles (805 kilometers), although the company neglects to specify the measurement standard used. Moving at a constant speed of 55 mph (88.5 km/h), the off-roader will be able to cover 640 miles (1,030 kilometers).
Mullen’s first vehicle is the sports car named Dragonfly K50, which you can have a look at in the video here. Developed by China-based Qiantu Motor Company, the coupe is scheduled to hit the U.S. market packing 438 hp (327 kW) under the hood and 380 km (236 miles) of range.
