The Chinese automotive conglomerate Hozon Auto plans to start the production of its first-ever all-electric SUV model, the E-Take, in the fall of 2018.
Once the first vehicle rolls off the assembly line, the company will have a rightful claim to the title of the 13th manufacturer of environment-friendly cars in China. This number is certainly going to keep growing, too: China considers environment preservation as much of a priority as Europe does.
Not much is being revealed about the upcoming battery-powered SUV at the moment, except that it is going to look pretty much the same as its concept version.
The five-seat Hozon E-Take will ship with a panorama glass roof, a 10” center display, a 360-degree all-around view system, a number of driver aids, remote climate control and a remote diagnostics system.
While there are no exact performance figures to go by right now, the manufacturer says the car accelerates to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.8 seconds and peaks out at 170 km/h (105 mph). It also offers up to 400 kilometers (250 miles) of combined-cycle driving range once fully charged. Quick charging only takes 30 minutes, whereas a full cycle would be closer to 8 hours.
Hozon Auto seems determined to pursue the production of environmentally clean vehicles further. The company has recently opened up a research institute in California, U.S. to conduct research on autonomous vehicle technology. Who knows, maybe we will be seeing self-driving cars bearing Hozon logos on the streets soon.
