Lucid Air EV new specs, production start revealed

Lucid Motors will be bringing its battery-powered Air saloon to this year’s New York International Auto Show. The car boasts 2.5 seconds of launch time and maxes out at 378 km/h (235 mph), leaving the Tesla Model S far behind with its 250 km/h (155 mph).

In its standard U.S. $52,000 trim version, the Lucid Air will pack 395 hp (295 kilowatts) and a large 75 kilowatt-hour battery. Its maximum range will amount to 400 kilometers (250 miles) in this specification.

The top trim (pricing unavailable so far) will get dual electric motors joining their efforts for a whopping 1,000 hp (745 kW) and an enormous 130-kWh traction battery. This one will offer up to 645 kilometers (400 miles) of uninterrupted driving.

Aside from this, Lucid promises to ship the Air range ‘ready for self-driving tech’, which means you will be able to opt for an optical rangefinder, a radar and a video camera set if you want your car to go autonomous.

The production will begin in Arizona, USA, before the end of 2020.
