Vuhl launches 05RR speedster in Mexico, promises Bugatti-class PWR

Mexico-based car builder Vuhl has announced the sales start of its second mass-produced model, the 05RR speedster. The extreme sports car made its first public appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2016.

The Vuhl 05RR is street-legal and carries a 2.3L Ford EcoBoost V4 rated at 390 hp (291 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lbft) of torque, linked to a six-speed sequential transmission. Factor in its vanishingly low weight (660 kilograms, or 1,455 pounds), and you’ve got a power-to-weight ratio of 600 horsepower per metric ton, which is comparable to the PWR of the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport.

The vehicle needs 2.7 seconds to bolt from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) and maxes out at around 260 km/h (160 mph).

Among other things, the base trim version features a limited-slip rear differential and an advanced suspension design pre-configured for racetrack use. Stiffer springs and performance tires are available at a premium.

International pricing hasn’t been revealed yet, but rumor has it that the Vuhl 05RR will soon enter the market in Great Britain priced at £89,900 and above.
