Enovate, a budding Chinese all-electric carmaker, has taken part in the 2019 Auto Shanghai with its latest prototype vehicle called the Sportback Coupe ME-S Concept. The car should be released in 2021 as a luxury sedan/saloon.
For those of you who noticed that it looks suspiciously like the Porsche Taycan or Panamera: this is not coincidental. The company hired ex-Porsche designer Hakan Saracoglu to design the model. Based on the iMA architecture, the sedan packs an all-wheel drive system and reportedly sprints 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in three seconds flat. It is also capable of replenishing up to 80% of its batteries in 15 minutes, the manufacturer claims.
The interior looks minimalistic, with natural wood and seaweed inserts used as decoration, touch-sensitive panels, and an ergonomic layout.
Enovate currently only has one production car in its portfolio, the ME7 mid-size crossover SUV currently priced at 366,800 Chinese Yuan (~54,580 USD). The car ships with an electric motor capable of 231 hp (172 kW) and 330 Nm (243 lbft) of torque, and does the standard sprint in 4.9s. Once fully charged, it can cover up to 500 kilometers (310 miles).
