After premiering an early prototype version of its P7 electric sedan/saloon at the Shanghai Auto Show in spring, Xpeng Motors will be revealing the production car at the upcoming trade fair in Chengdu, China. The car is slated to hit the market in 2Q 2020.
Measuring 4.9 meters (16.08 ft.) long with 3 m (9.84 ft.) of wheelbase, two engines take the AWD sports car from zero to 100 km/h in four seconds flat. The specific performance figures are still pending. The range is estimated at 600 kilometers (373 miles).
On-board tech notably includes a third-tier self-driving system, voice control and even a driver’s mood recognition system that works with facial expressions.
Xpeng has previously released an electric SUV called the G3. The model has 197 hp (147 kW) along with 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque and can go as far as 520 km (323 miles) before recharging becomes necessary. Its initial production rates amounted to over 2,000 cars per month, but fell to 1,500 when the subsidies were cut.
