Delage will build a racecar-like, road-legal hypercar after a 66-year hiatus

Delage Automobiles has produced high-end executive cars and racing vehicles since 1905 until 1953. As it turns out, though, the company is still around and will soon be launching the production of a new hybrid hypercar.

The Delage D12 takes after its vintage predecessors as far as the looks are concerned, but packs state-of-the-art equipment and tech. It utilizes a V12 with 900 hp (671 kW) and a powerful electric motor supplying another 330 hp (246 kW). The total powertrain rating therefore amounts to 1,230 hp (917 kW).

According to the company, the vehicle rivals Formula 1 racecars in terms of acceleration and steering performance. With this, Delage pays homage to one of its most successful vehicles ever, the 15 S8, which won the 1927 World Gran Prix.

The hypercar is already fully designed and ready for production. Reportedly, Canadian professional racing driver Jacques Joseph Charles Villeneuve helped test it and iron out any minor flaws it may have had at the later design stages.
