The all-electric HiPhi 1 Concept debuted in China last year as a crossover SUV powered by dual 272PS (200kW) motors. Apparently, its production version is called HiPhi X, and it will be shown at the Auto China show on September 26, 2020.
The normal car looks much tamer than its prototype, having conventional mirrors instead of video cameras, less pronounced side relief, and more mundane-looking wheels. On the plus side, it retains the swing-up roof section, rear doors that open up against the traffic, and all of nine displays inside.
The EV also boasts 610 km (379 miles) of driving range, which is 10 km (6.2 miles) more than the concept had, and an aerodynamic drag ratio of just 0.27 (the concept had 0.28). It still offers a choice between rear-wheel drive and AWD, and still needs 3.9 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph).
The HiPhi X should go into production later this year, but sales won’t begin until the first half of 2021.
