Volkswagen ID.4 to be Replaced by ID. Tiguan

Volkswagen has announced the ID. Tiguan as the replacement for the ID.4 and the European-market ID.5. The new electric SUV is expected to launch in Germany and other European markets in early 2027. The gasoline, diesel, and hybrid versions of the Tiguan will continue to be sold alongside the new electric model.

The ID. Tiguan features a more traditional SUV design compared to the ID.4 and ID.5, with a more upright appearance and sharper body lines. The interior has been redesigned with a focus on material quality and physical controls for functions such as air conditioning and the multifunction steering wheel. An illuminated controller in the center console manages audio volume and track selection.

Three powertrain options are planned for the European launch. These include a 58.0-kWh battery with 188 horsepower and rear-wheel drive, and two 77.0-kWh battery options offering 281 horsepower with rear-wheel drive or 295 horsepower with all-wheel drive. The ID. Tiguan is expected to offer up to 373 miles (600 km) of WLTP range, depending on the configuration. Towing capacity is stated as up to 3,968 pounds (1,800 kg) for the 58.0-kWh model and up to 4,409 pounds (2,000 kg) for the 77.0-kWh versions. The vehicle will also support vehicle-to-load functionality.

Inside, the ID. Tiguan will feature a 10.0-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.0-inch central infotainment screen. An optional 12.0-inch display for the front passenger will also be available. Pre-orders in Germany and other European countries are scheduled to begin on October 13, with prices starting at €42,695.
