A U.S. businessman and owner of a restaurant and a bar snatched this model-year-1956 van nearly from under the scrap metal press and had it brought back to life as an RV, which is now available for sale for just $42,000.
The man had the entire aluminum bodywork repainted and the retro looks emphasized through the installation of aftermarket round headlights, riveted exterior accents, and chrome side mirrors.
Mechanical modifications included replacing the engine, the shock absorbers and the brakes all around. Living amenities included a kitchen with a fridge, a three-burner gas stove and a sink, as well as many storage compartments. A dining area and multiple beds are also present, but while the RV could probably accommodate four passengers, it has only two seats with belts and is therefore considered a two-seater. Those are 2002 VW Beetle seats, by the way.
The owner says it was the heavy toll of the pandemic on his business that forced him to sell his restored motorhome.
