Canoo floats stock, unveils roadmap until 2025

Automotive startup Canoo has decided to enter the stock market and tell the potential investors of its plans. Apparently, the company intends to launch production of three all-new cars until 2025.

According to the roadmap revealed, the first of the trio is an urban seven-seater MPV set for premiere in 2022. A compact delivery van should follow it a year after that and a sporty sedan two years later.

The official 3D renderings hint that the actual number of models and concepts may prove greater than that. All vehicles will allegedly come based on “the world’s flattest unitized skateboard platform” that will house all the principal powertrain components, freeing up plenty of space for the cabin. The chassis will be exactly the same across the board, so all differences between the models will boil down to “pod” designs – designs that the startup hints come in unlimited quantities.

The video attached to this news article shows a pre-production car being tested “at its limits” in Fontana, California. The company reports over 50 vehicle tests conducted in real-world conditions over the past 19 months.

The first Canoo model is slated to become available via subscription only from Q2 2022. Its all-electric range will exceed 250 miles (402.3 kilometers) according to the EPA measurement standard. China is being considered as the main production site, and the volumes should go up from 10,000 units produced within the first year to five times as many in 2024.
