The U.S.-based startup company Thor Trucks, headed by young and ambitious businessmen Dakota Semler and Giordano Sordoni, has revealed a new full-electric truck prototype. The vehicle is easily one of the main competitors of the recently showcased Tesla Semi.
The newcomer, which goes by the name of Thor ET-One, employs an up-to-date version of the Navistar truck platform. One notable feature comes in the form of its reinforced double-reduction drive axles by Dana. The car will be shipped with a choice of engines varying between 300 and 700 horsepower supplied by the Canada-based motor company TM4. It is expected to have a carrying capacity of 36 metric tons (more than 65,000 lbs).
While it may be still too early to talk money, Thor Trucks says the base trim level version of the truck with an on-battery travel distance of 160 km (100 mi) might end up with a price tag of 150,000 U.S. Dollars. The top trim level version capable of running up to 480 km (300 mi) before discharge would be closer to U.S. $250,000.
