Famous coachbuilder Alpina has only ever released 130 B7 Turbo sports cars based on the BMW 6 Series (E24) model dating all the way back to 1976. Of these 130, only 17 came equipped with a catalyst and were therefore considered especially rare. One of these coupes will be put up for sale at an auction held on April 11-12, priced between €140,000 and €160,000.
The main series comes powered by a 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine normally capable of 330 horsepower (246 kW) and 512 Newton-meters (382 pound-feet) of torque available at 3,000 RPM. In contrast, the catalyst version offers 320 hp (239 kW) along with 520 Nm (384 lbft) of torque starting from 2,400 RPM. This enables the ultra-rare Alpina to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.8 seconds and top out at 265 km/h (165 mph).
This particular B7 Turbo Coupe sports a black exterior with a bright red cabin by Autosattlerei Wenger. Its other noteworthy features include Alpina multi-spoke wheels, bucket seats, a Sony CDX-J10 CD player with the changer integrated into the trunk, a toolbox, and a well-appointed first aid kit.
