Polestar, a former tuning department of Volvo, has begun accepting pre-orders for their first vehicle named simply Polestar 1. What should you expect from a car that costs almost $160,000?
The two-door sedan, which was shown to the wide audience in October earlier this year, has a carbon body and comes with a hybrid engine comprising a two-liter gasoline motor and two electric motors. The total output of the unit is 600 horsepower with 1000 Nm torque. The car can travel up to 150 kilometers (93 miles) on its batteries alone.
Mass production of Polestar 1 will soon begin on the assembly lines in China. Contrary to the popular belief that Chinese industrial enterprises pay little attention to environment preservation, the Sweden-based manufacturer stresses that its factory is actually “the cleanest in the world”.
The first Polestar 1 rolls off the conveyor belt in 2019. The company plans to assemble only 500 cars per year.
