Street-legal Cerbera Speed 12 goes over 1,000 hp

Helical Engineering and its subdivision, TR Supercars, have jointly designed a street-legal version of the Cerbera Speed 12 hypercar. The companies have also enlisted the help of British sports car maker TVR.

Owing to the extensive use of carbon bodywork and a lightweight carbon-aluminum cockpit, the new Cerbera Speed 12 Turbo only weighs in at 1,448 kilograms (3,192 lb).

The engine bay of the street-legal vehicle holds a 6.0L Aston Martin V12 engine rated at 1,026 horsepower (765 kW), linked to a six-speed manual transmission and a titanium exhaust system. The car accelerates 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.9 seconds and can ultimately exceed 350 km/h (217 mph).

The base equipment includes adjustable suspension, performance brakes and tires, and center-locked wheels.

The new Cerbera Speed 12 Turbo costs £1,200,000.

The original Speed 12, also known as the TVR Project 7/12, debuted in 1996 with a 7.7L V12 monster motor on board producing almost 900 hp (670 kW). It used an FIA GT1-spec racecar chassis and participated in several tournaments, even scoring a few prizes.

Despite an overwhelming number of pre-orders, the street-legal version of the car was never released. Peter Wheeler, Former owner of TVR, thought the car was too powerful to attempt to make it street-legal.
