Car manufacturer Automobili Pininfarina has announced its plans to release three crossover/SUV models in the nearest future. The strongest of the three – called the Pininfarina PF1 – will get an all-electric drivetrain and compete against the Lamborghini Urus in its market segment.
The company has teamed up with two technological partners for the project, the U.S.-based manufacturer Rivian and the Croatian hypercar builder Rimac. The former will provide its patented “skateboard” chassis, while the latter will design the engine and transmission.
By the way, Rivian produces its R1S SUV and R1T pickup truck on the same “skateboard” chassis.
According to Pawan Kumar Goenka, Managing Director of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., the company has already started working on the Pininfarina PF1 and should reveal the final design pretty soon.
While no official information exists to date, rumors claim the car will be getting four 800V engines capable of 1,100 hp (820 kW) total output. Allegedly, it will also get a large 135 kWh battery and a set of humongous 24-inch wheels. Let's wait and see if this turns out to be the case.
