Alibaba.com lists what could very well be the world’s smallest electric car for adults. Prices vary from U.S. $100 to $4,000 depending on shipment parameters such as volume.
The one-seat vehicle is 2,133 mm long, 900 mm wide and 1,495 mm tall with 1,515 mm between the axles. It has 150 mm of ground clearance and weighs in at 230 kg, like some motorcycles.
Other notable features include four wheels, a closed two-door cabin, and a normal car seat. The required lights and mirrors are all present, so it can actually be road-legal in some markets. Disc brakes can be discerned behind 10-inch wheels.
The electric motor is rated at 1.3 horsepower, or 1 kilowatt, and maxes out at 40 km/h (25 miles per hour). A full charge lasts 60 kilometers (37 miles).
China is known for other affordable EVs as well. For instance, in January this year, automaker Changli upgraded its $900 electric model (shown in the video) with some exterior embellishments, redesigned door panels and dashboard. It also added a dual-tone paintjob option and reinforced the roof rack. The power output of the electric motor stayed the same at 1.1 horsepower, or 820 Watts.
