Crazy truck finds a new owner for $12M in Riyadh

Whoever bought this Thor 24 with its 28 liters of displacement room and 24 cylinders ended up paying U.S. $12,000,000 for it at an auction in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Mike Harrah, from California, has designed and built the truck based on the Peterbilt 359 Ultra Custom TT Crew Cab that came out 35 years ago. He extended the chassis and fitted it with dual 12V-71 engines with twelve cylinders each. He boosted the engine group with eight superchargers and added four more down the line for an extra bit of performance. Finally, he placed eight nitrous oxide tanks on top of the exhaust manifold. The resulting powertrain churns out 3,471 PS (3,422 HP, or 2,552 kW) at 2,500 RPM. A custom four-speed automatic transmission is used to drive the rear axle, and the exhaust gases escape via 24 pipes.

The inner space of the car is cluttered with screens and instruments constantly monitoring the performance of all superchargers, the current pressure levels, speed, RPM, etc. A dedicated recreation area houses a 1,500W audio system and a 40” TV set.
