RUF CTR3 Clubsport may fetch around €1M at the May auction

Sotheby’s announced a forthcoming auction sale of an extremely rare RUF CTR3 Clubsport supercar to be held in May, 2018. Only seven such vehicles exist in the world, and, according to an estimation made at the latest Geneva International Motor Show, each one may cost as much as €900,000.

The sporty vehicle takes advantage of a chassis purpose-built by Multimatic, a Canadian company engaged in the development of various Ford GT models (both race-only and street-legal). It uses the same front suspension as the Porsche 997 and the rear suspension designed for it by RUF.

The interior space of the CTR3 Clubsport is virtually identical to that of the Porsche Cayman, the only exception being a differently styled dashboard and carbon-frame seats.

The car comes armed with a twin-turbo, opposite-cylinder 3K engine with almost four liters of displacement room at its disposal, coupled with a seven-speed DCT. Commanding some impressive 777 hp (580 kW) and 980 Nm (723 lb·ft) of torque, the vehicle accelerates 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in slightly above three seconds and doesn’t hit its speed ceiling until 380 km/h (236 mph).

The latest RUF release was a rear-driven, carbon-body coupe model named SCR. It received a 4.0-liter engine with 510 hp (317 kW) and could go past 300 km/h (186 mph), but had no driver aids or active safety systems onboard.
