VW considers an ID.3 GTX

Volkswagen’s recently introduced ID.4 GTX model is just the first example of a performance-oriented electric vehicle, and it looks like the range will be growing fast.

Klaus Zellmer, VW Member of the Board of Management, has officially confirmed that the ID.3 model is also being considered a candidate for the GTX lineup. The company has yet to reach a final decision, but it looks like the electric hot hatch has good chances to reach the market.

In recent news, the automaker announced a GTX version for the ID.5 coupe-SUV. A Volkswagen strategy report from June 2020 mentioned an intention to launch a new all-electric performance hatchback in 2024, and it looks like the ID.3 could fit the description just fine.

The standard ID.3 spec comes with a single rear-axle motor rated at 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and 310 Nm (230 lb-ft) of torque.
