Meet Elektron Quasar, a 2,300-HP battery hypercar concept

Remember Elektron One, a 1,360-HP (1,000-kW) hypercar that Turkish entrepreneur Armağan Arabul had intended to show us at the Geneva show this spring? The show was cancelled, but it looks like Elektron Innovativ has moved on to an even more impressive concept.

Like the One, the Elektron Quasar only exists on virtual 3D images at this point. It is envisioned as a quad-motor, all-wheel-drive electric hypercar capable of hitting the wheels with 2,300 HP (1,700 kW). The resulting horsepower-to-weight ratio is a record-breaking 1.5 HP/kg.

The company, which is registered in Germany, claims that the new vehicle can zap 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 1.65 seconds, making it faster than the upcoming Aspark Owl, Tesla Roadster and Rimac C_Two models. The top speed is going to be capped at 450 km/h (280 miles) per hour. For perspective, the world’s fastest production car is the SSC Tuatara, which has been confirmed to be capable of 455.2 km/h (282.8 mph).

The Quasar will also attempt to set a new absolute record at the Nodschleife, which would necessitate coming around ten seconds ahead of the Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo. Computer-based simulations predict that the car can finish the lap in mere 5 minutes 10.118 seconds.

Elektron Innovativ has production plans for 99 units priced starting from €2.2 million. Sales should start in two years’ time.
