These are the cars that will contend for the title in 2021.
The main prize will go to either the all-electric Volkswagen ID.4 or the Honda e, or otherwise the Toyota Yaris PHEV. The latter has recently claimed a similar award in Europe.
Victory in the compact car segment could be awarded to the Toyota Yaris, or the Honda e, or the Honda Jazz/Fit. Land Rover Defender, Polestar 2 and Mercedes S will fight for the right to be called the world’s best luxury car, while the sports car pedestal will be contested by the Audi RS Q8, the Porsche 911 Turbo, and a Yaris yet again, albeit a GR version this time around.
The Best Appearance prize will go to the new Defender, the Honda e, or the Mazda MX-30.
Full-size CUV Kia Telluride won the nomination in 2020; this year’s winners will be announced on April 20.
