Klaus Zellmer, Board Member of Sales and Marketing of Volkswagen Cars, said in a recent interview that the company would stop offering ICE cars in Europe in mid-2030s.
He stressed that the change would affect only the Volkswagen brand and not the other VW Group marques. The timeline for it was set for early 2033 through late 2035. North America and China branches of the company will follow up on the electrification later, with no specific timeframes yet. Southern countries will take longer to switch to EVs because of lacking infrastructure and legislation.
Volkswagen enjoys rather brisk sales of its EVs right now. The ID.3 wat the first model to reach the mass market, followed by the ID.4 (featured in our gallery and the video) and its high-performance GTX version. Ultimately, the company plans on becoming the world leader in battery vehicle production.
