Colorful Volkswagen ID.4 underway to Rebelle Rally

VW North America has unveiled the ID.4 AWD PRO, an off-road-prepared SUV designed with Rhys Millen and Tanner Foust for the all-female Rebelle Rally.

The powertrain is stock, but the rest is not. The suspension is much more robust, the underchassis is protected at multiple vulnerable points, there is an expedition rack on the roof, and improved steering. Artist Liz Kuz came up with a vivid livery for the car inspired by the varied landscapes where the race will take place.

Dual motors supply 299 PS (295 hp / 220 kW) and 460 Nm (340 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels, and the driving range in the U.S. spec amounts to 400 km (248 miles).

The rally raid will begin tomorrow, October 7, and will span around 2,500 kilometers (1,500 miles) across Nevada, Arizona and California.

VW ID.4 had already taken part in various races before (watch the video for a reminder), and Tanner Foust in particular drove an ID.4 during the Mexican 1000 Rally this spring. Other manufacturers, such as Infiniti and Lexus, also came up with their own Rebelle vehicles.
