Volkswagen America has reported setting a new record with its ID.4 electro-SOV, which covered 35,770 miles (57,500 km) within 96 days of traveling through 48 U.S. States.
The car was piloted by Reiner Zietlow and co-piloted by Derek Collins, who visited 628 Ford dealerships traveling non-stop and charging the EV at Electrify America stations whenever batteries ran low. Zietlow, who already made a name for himself doing similar trips, commented that using the ID.4 for over three months in a row became possible thanks to its excellent reliability and the nationwide spread of EV infrastructure.
Hein Schafer, Senior Marketing VP of VW America, pointed out that the trial the ID.4 was put through once again proved that it was able and ready to phase out ICE cars.
