Barcelona-based electric scooter manufacturer Silence has unveiled the S04, its first all-electric car set to be released with two powertrains to choose from and a starting price of just €7,500.
The vehicle measures 2.33 meters (91 inches) long and can take two people on board. The entry spec has a 5.6-kWh battery and an 8-horsepower (6-kilowatt) motor, which makes it legal to drive in the EU without driver’s license starting from 16 years of age. The top speed of this version will not exceed 45 km/h (28 mph), though.
The top spec has 19 horsepower (14 kW) and can do 90 km/h (56 mph), while its larger 11.2-kWh battery gives it up to 150 km (93 miles) of range.
Having said this, the main selling point is that both support rapid battery swaps. The promo video shows a cute-looking battery with a handle and wheels that you can seemingly easily detach and take home to charge from a regular wall socket. Replacing it at a dedicated charging station is also touted as an option.
It remains to be announced when the Silence S04 might become available.
