A man in Australia builds his very own hypercar

Jeff David, a citizen of Melbourne, Australia, has assembled his own Quantum GP700 hypercar in a shed at the back of his house.

The vehicle, whose parts were provided by the Quantum Performance Vehicles tuning shop, flaunts a no-nonsense 2.7-liter, 700-horsepower, 653 Nm V12 turbocharged engine. With a power unit like this, the vehicle can bolt to 100 km/h (62 mph) in mere 2.6 seconds. It’s also worth noting that Jeff had managed to tune up the stock engine, which had initially been “only” 500 hp strong, by more than a third of its original capacity.

The speed limit of the new hypercar is set at 280 km/h. With a huge rear spoiler responsible for most of the downforce, the Quantum GP700 is perfectly steerable and stable on most roads even despite its meager weight of just 700 kilograms (~1,550 lbs.).

The hi-end mass-produced variant of the Quantum GP700 can be purchased at U.S. $700,000.
