Alpha Wolf electric pickup debuts in LA

Following the announcement made in spring, California-based Alpha Motor Corporation has finally conducted a live premiere of its truck-shaped EV dubbed the Wolf at the Petersen Automotive Museum. No visitors were allowed, so the event was broadcast live.

In case you forgot, the Wolf is a single-cab pickup truck that combines vaguely 1970s-era looks with modern LED lights. It measures 4,828 mm (188.6 inches) long, 1,930 mm (75.4 in) wide and 1,700 mm (66.4 in) tall with a 1,810 mm (70.7 in) long bed.

The platform is rather typical by modern EV standards: the suspension is independent and spring-based, and the traction battery lies within the bounds of the wheelbase. A large frunk is available, and you can choose between RWD and FWD, although all powertrain specs remain secret.

A 75-kWh battery grants the EV between 400 and 440 km (248 – 273 miles) of range. A launch from standstill to 97 km/h (60 mph) takes 6.2 seconds, and the towing capacity maxes out at 3,000 lbs (1,360 kg).

The interior design is still unfinished, so the company only shows it on 3D renderings so far. As far as can be seen, there are a couple of displays and only a bare minimum of hardware controls.

The production should start in a few years’ time, but the company is already taking pre-orders for versions priced between U.S. $36,000 and $46,000.
