Alpina Automobiles will be unveiling its author’s take on the BMW 850i, the B8, on March 24, 2021.
The Alpina B8 arrives wearing in-house designed wheels, bumpers and badges. It rocks a tuned version of the stock 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 capable of around 600 PS (592 hp / 441 kW) instead of the usual 530 PS (523 hp / 390 kW). The eight-speed automatic transmission and the xDrive system get a number of improvements to cope with the extra power.
The newcomer is expected to slot in between the 850i and the M8 in terms of performance. The former makes it to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds and proceeds to reach 250 km/h (155 mph) before an electronic limiter kicks in. The latter comes in 600 and 625 PS forms (592 and 616 hp; 441 and 460 kW) and needs between 3.2 and 3.3 seconds for the sprint. Top speed lies at 250 km/h (155 mph) and rises to 305 km/h (189.5 mph) in the Competition version.
Alpina says it will launch a B8 Coupe and Cabrio after the sedan.
