Alpine A110 gets an extreme new version

Alpine has posted a video teaser showing a new, performance-packed variant of its A110 sports car. The premiere is scheduled for the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 16, 2019.

Rumor has it the newcomer is a road-legal modification of the A110 GT4 racecar. At least, prototype car spotters have recently made photos of a test mule that looked like it.

As far as the drivetrain is concerned, the sported-up ride will probably be getting an improved version of the 1.8-liter Renault Megane RS Trophy engine. Rated at 300 hp (224 kW) and 400 Nm (298 lbĂ—ft) of torque on the French hot hatch, it can work in conjunction with a six-speed manual or semi-automatic transmission.

In all likelihood, the upcoming high-end Alpine will also be getting adjustable shocks, tweaked chassis with a dedicated Track drive mode, and performance brakes.

The regular A110 debuted in the spring of 2016. The car draws its power from a 1.8-liter engine good for 252 hp (188 kW) and accelerates 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.5 seconds.
