An award-winning Gumpert Apollo supercar goes up on sale

The German car dealership Springbok Sportwagen GmbH has put a unique Gumpert Apollo supercar up for an auction sale starting at €333,000.

In August 2009, the vehicle set a new record on the Nürburgring Circuit in Germany as it completed the entire 21-kilometer lap in 7:11.57.

The hood compartment of the Gumpert Apollo conceals a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo Audi V8 engine rated at 700 hp (522 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb·ft) of torque, as well as a sequential gearbox. With a powertrain like this, the vehicle accelerates 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just over 3 seconds and can ultimately exceed 350 km/h (217 mph).

According to a dealership spokesman, the car has over 9,000 kilometers (5,500+ miles) on its odometer and has been brought back to top shape via maintenance. He mentioned ‘a minor discount’ due to the missing factory-issue rear wing.

The car company Gumpert ceased to exist six years ago. Its assets were purchased by Hongkong-based Ideal Team Venture which immediately went on to rename Gumpert into Apollo Automobil. The first release of the reborn company was a car named Arrow. Another entry, a carbon-body hypercar Intensa Emozione, was demonstrated to the public a year ago.
