British automaker Ariel, famous for its Atom and Nomad
models, announced the release of an all-wheel drive electric car with a
capacity of 1200 horsepower. Autocar reports with reference to its own source,
the company expects that this model will become the most technologically and
dynamically developing supercar in history.
Over the design of the two-seater novelty, which is
being developed under the code name P40, experts are still working, but it is
already known that it will be based on aluminum chassis and carbon body panels.
Approximate weight of the machine will be 1600 kilograms.
Supercar from Ariel will take in motion four electric
motors with a total capacity of 1200 horsepower, and 1800 Nm of torque, a set
of batteries with water cooling capacity of 42 kilowatt-hours and a gas turbine
engine on the rear axle that will act as a generator for recharging the
batteries. The stock of the electric vehicle will be enough for a distance of
160-200 kilometers. A full "refueling" of the car can be done in 50
minutes using a quick recharging system.
As for the dynamic characteristics, the P40 supercar
can accelerate to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, and its maximum speed will be
limited to 257 km/h.
It is assumed that the serial production of the new
supercar from Ariel will begin in 2020.
