The Chinese automotive industry is expanding its electrified/all-electric segment rapidly and aggressively, snowing the market under dozens upon dozens of environment-friendly car models. Enter Jingke 400, a highly affordable minivan by FAW subdivision Beijing Qingxing.
The manufacturer has made the price of the upcoming Jingke its most compelling marketing point, claiming that the minivan is going to be one of the cheapest EVs in the world.
The newcomer will be using the FAW Jilin Senya S80 car platform from 2015 as base. It will ship with a modest, 82 hp / 61 kW strong engine and a 45 kWh traction battery. Despite the underwhelming specs, the company claims it will be able to go over 300 km (187 mi) on a single charge as long as the speed remains under 60 km/h (37 mph) at all times.
Both its interior and exterior design looks completely copied over from its antecedent, the FAW Jilin Senya S80. The only improvement is a much simpler, cleaner-looking multimedia system.
Exact prices remain unknown, but the abovementioned vehicle from 2015 can be purchased as low as U.S. $7,800.
