Bollinger unveils its all-electric SUV and pickup truck concepts

U.S.-based car company Bollinger has taken the remaining wraps off its B1 SUV and B2 pickup truck.

The earliest prototype version of the off-roader emerged two years ago, and the pickup followed a year later, but it is only now that both have been confirmed for production.

Previously, the company had planned to ship the cars with an assortment of engines rated between 360 and 560 horsepower (268 / 418 kW, respectively). However, it ultimately decided to ship both with the same high-end electric powertrain good for 620 hp (462 kW) and 905 Nm (667 pound-feet) of torque. Equipped like this, both should be able to accelerate 0-97 km/h (0-62 mph) in about 4.5 seconds and ultimately hit 160 km/h (99 mph). Supported trailer attachment weight is 3.5 metric tons (~7,700 lbs).

Acceleration and power notwithstanding, it is the off-road capability that is the main selling point of both cars. The standard ground clearance amounts to a whopping 38 cm (15 inches), but you may adjust it to be as tall as 50 cm (20”). The two-speed transfer case, which is installed by default, should also make things easier for cross-country enthusiasts.

The driving range remains one big question mark. The battery capacity looks superb on paper – 120 kWh is more than the Tesla Model X has – but the Bollingers are also much heavier than the Model X.

The company says it will reveal all specs and pricing in the coming few months.
