Brabham BT62 gets an affordable trim version

Australian carmaker Brabham has announced the third and so far the most affordable version of its BT62 supercar, called the Competition. Until now, there was only the Ultimate Track Car and its road-legal variant, the Road Compliant Conversion.

The newcomer is also meant to be used exclusively on the track and comes without any kind of interior equipment – even the passenger seat is missing. This enables it to cost as little as £750,000 in the UK. On the outside, the Brabham BT62 Competition looks much like its siblings, based on the same carbon-fiber monocoque cabin reinforced with high-tensile steel. It comes powered by a 5.4-liter non-turbo V8 engine pushing 710 hp (525 kW) and 667 Nm (492 lb-ft) to the wheels. The brakes are different, and so are some of the default chassis and powertrain settings, but the rest stays the same.

We will have the opportunity seeing the Competition in action when the two-hour-long Britcar Endurance race launches at the Brands-Hatch Raceway. It will partake of a daytime and a nighttime run.

The manufacturer still doesn’t see the need to expand the original production quantity of just 70 vehicles. This means the new Competition trim will be count towards the total 70.
