Brabham Automotive, a supercar company founded by David Brabham, son of thrice F1 champion Jack Brabham, unveiled new and exciting data about its upcoming first racecar, the BT62.
Apparently, the track-only coupe, which was originally revealed a couple years ago, boasts record-breaking low aerodynamic drag ratios. The results of extensive computer-based modeling, as well as data garnered from a few real-world tests, prompt an interesting conclusion. Specifically, Brabham claims the racecar can go all the way up to 165 miles per hour (265+ km/h) and possibly even beyond that… with its body mounted upside down. This is supposed to demonstrate just how perfect its aerodynamic balance is.
The BT62 is available for ordering in three versions: Ultimate Track Car (top spec, not road-legal), Competition (middle spec, not road-legal), and Road Compliant Conversion. All three boast a carbon-fiber monocoque body reinforced with alloy steel and further strengthened by an internal roll cage. The Competition spec additionally features carbon brakes and tweaked ABS settings.
The model comes equipped by a rear-mounted 5.4-liter V8 rated at 710 hp (530 kW) and 667 Nm (492 lb-ft) of torque, partnered with a six-speed sequential transmission.
