Brabham BT62 sets a new high on Phillip Island

Brabham Automotive has posted a video proving that its BT62 supercar has set a new world record on the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in Victoria, Australia.

The previous record time of 1 minute 24.22 seconds was scored by Simon Wills during a Formula Holden championship. Brabham said it would only announce the new record time once it is duly registered, though.

The track-only Brabham BT62 celebrated its premiere in early May with a 5.4L V8 engine good for 710 hp (530 kW) and Holinger sequential transmission on board.

The car has an active aerodynamic body kit that provides it with 1,200 kg of additional downforce and features sport-grade carbon-ceramic brakes that allow it to enter turns smoothly.

A company representative said it wasn’t surprising that the Brabham BT62 had set a new high. He emphasized that the vehicle was built from scratch for maximum speed performance.

The car belongs to a limited series of just 70 vehicles priced at 1,000,000 GBP and above.
