Buy your ICE-powered Mini Moke this year or go electric

Moke International, which resurrected the legendary Moke compact car in the UK, has announced a full electrification of the model. The gas-powered Moke with a 1.1-liter IC engine under the hood (see video) will no longer be available after Dec. 31, 2021.

The battery off-roader will be offered in left- and right-hand-drive variants. It will utilize a single rear-mounted electric motor rated at 45 PS (44 hp / 33 kW) to get from zero to 55 kilometers per hour (34 mph) in 4.5 seconds. Due to a bulky cell array, the car weighs in at 800 kg (1,760 lbs) and maxes out at 100 km/h (62 mph).

It is unknown how much power the cells can store, but the manufacturer claims a driving range of 143 kilometers, or 89 miles. Type 2 charger will replenish the power completely within four hours.

On the outside, the car is just 3,225 mm (126 inches) long, and the company will produce it at Fablink Group factories found across six Great Britain counties. These factories employ around 700 workers, Moke International says, adding that the left-hand-drive version of the car might interest buyers in continental Europe.

Pre-orders are already available starting from £29,150 before all options and taxes. Deliveries will begin next summer.
