The U.S. car enterprise Casil Motors has voiced its plans to give a second birth to the SP-110 Edonis supercar which used to be produced in the early 2000s based on the Bugatti EB 110 chassis.
In 2017, Casil Motors bought the production rights for the car from B. Engineering, the legal successor of Bugatti Automobili which went bankrupt. Former employees of the latter bought out and kept for themselves 17 of the EB 110 carbon monocoques which were manufactured but never made it to the assembly lines.
B. Engineering had also wanted to proceed with the release of the Edonis supercar. Its engineers had designed an all-new aluminum body for its and reworked all of its major mechanical units. Among other things, the company increased the volume of its stock V12 engine from 3.5L to to 3.8L and replaced four small turbochargers with two large ones. As a result, its performance went up from 610 hp to 680 hp, which enabled the car to accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of of 365 km/h (227 mph).
Initial production plans existed for 21 SP-110 Edonis vehicles, but the company has only ever managed to sell two of them at €760,000 each. The remaining 15 carbon monocoques ended up having been bought by Casil Motors.
According to a representative of the latter, the company doesn’t intend to make any further modifications in the car’s mechanical design, although it does want to take its nominal performance a bit further – to 720 horsepower. On the outside, though, Casil Motors will outfit its revived SP-110 Edonis series with the Rinascita aerodynamic body kit including a rear diffusor, a splitter, and a wide carbon spoiler.
