Aiways, a budding car manufacturer from China, has joined the efforts with the German engineer Roland Gumpert to design and build two all-electric cars. Both should enjoy their official premiere at the upcoming Geneva International Motor Show in Switzerland in March 2019.
The first entry, called Nathalie, is a supercar that comes with four electric motors jointly capable of producing up to 800 hp (596 kW). Reportedly, it blazes past 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.5 seconds and can accelerate beyond 300 km/h (186 mph) when going in a straight line. Its driving range amounts to an impressive 1,200 kilometers (745 miles).
The manufacturer keeps the production quantity to just 500 units, with the first cars arriving to their respective owners in late 2019.
The other battery car is a crossover/SUV called the U5. It is comparable with such German EVs as the Audi e-Tron and the Mercedes EQC in terms of engine performance and equipment, but should be considerably more affordable than either. It will ship with an engine rated at 190 hp (142 kW) and have a range of 460 km (285 mi). In fact, the U5 has already premiered in China, where it was subjected to multiple crash tests and scored five stars for safety.
Aside from the above, Aiways also plans to launch production of MPVs and sedans.
