Cupra debuts as a standalone marque with the Formentor coupe-SUV

Young Spanish automotive marque Cupra has taken the wraps off its first production model, the Formentor coupe-SUV. The car will be exhibited at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.

Judging by the images, the vehicle borrows some of its stylistic features from the Seat 20V20 Concept. That said, its taillights and several other design traits seem clearly inspired by the top-specced Seat Tarraco SUV.

The interior of the car harbors a digital dashboard, bucket seats and a 10-inch multimedia screen that appears to “hover” over the front fascia.

Tech-wise, the Cupra Tormentor is a PHEV based on a turbocharged gasoline engine, an electric motor and a battery set. The powertrain produces around 250 hp (186 kW) and offers around 50 km (30 mi) of all-electric driving range.

Industry professionals believe the new coupe-SUV will start shipping next year.
